- Chartered as a Transportation Management Organization (TMO) by a core of 11 companies to work together on the Clean Air Act requirements to reduce emissions by reducing trips to worksites
- The charter name of the non profit corporation was Trip Reduction Efficiency Council (TREC)
- Charter member companies included AFP Group, AIM, Apache Corp, Bechtel Corp., EOTT, Galleria Chamber, Marathon Oil, PanEnergy, Telecheck, Transco, Union Petroleum
- TREC served approximately 60 area companies in Uptown/Galleria and Greenway Plaza, helping them with the Clean Air Act requirements

- Developed a proposal for and received a two year federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant for $165,000 from the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC)
- The TREK Board hired Janet Redeker, who had previously worked for METRO, to serve as Executive Director
- Implemented the first TREK Holiday Shuttle partnering with METRO
- Mandatory fines for non compliance with the Clean Air Act were deleted from the Act by Congress
- TREK companies decided to continue the organization because of traffic congestion and to help clean the air

- Implemented the TREKHOME emergency ride program
- Initiated sale of discounted METRO bus passes
- Continued the Holiday Shuttle service and extended the routes to four
- Received a 501 C4 non-profit status
- Formed an advisory Board of transportation experts, elected officials and corporations
- Developed four TREK informational and marketing brochures
- Distributed vanpool formation in companies throughout the area.
- Initiated talks with METRO to obtain more park & ride routes for the area

Continued marketing efforts, increased METRO sales of passes, formed vanpools and carpools and operated the Holiday Shuttle each year

Convinced the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) to award TREK a grant to initiate a commuter bus route from Fort Bend County to Uptown/Galleria

Demographics showed that 1/3 of the employees in the two business centers lived in Fort Bend County and there was no bus service there

- Inauguration of the TREKEXPRESS Uptown/Galleria commuter bus route from Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston
- METRO participated in funding 10% of the 20% local match required for the grant for 2 of the 3 years

- Inaugurated the TREKEXPRESS Greenway Plaza commuter bus route from Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston – no METRO participation
- METRO initiated a new park & ride route from Hwy 290 to the two business centers

- Continued operating the two TREKEXPRESS routes

| 2004 |
- Expiration of the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) grant for Uptown/Galleria and lack of a sponsor forced TREK to discontinue the TREKEXPRESS Uptown/Galleria commuter bus route
- METRO cancels direct service to the two business centers from the Katy Fwy and Kingwood park & ride lots

- Fort Bend County forms new Transit District
- CMAQ grant for the Greenway Plaza TREKEXPRESS route expires
- TREK awarded a contract to manage the TREKEXPRESS Greenway Plaza commuter bus route for Fort Bend County Transit
- H-GAC initiates program to fund TREK and other TMOs for formation of vanpools to help clean the air
- TREK sets record by forming 52 new vanpools from late 2004-2005

- TREK awarded a contract to re-start the TREKEXPRESS Uptown/Galleria Commuter bus route for Fort Bend County and continued management of both commuter routes
- TREK continued to form vanpools

- Formed a total of 135 vanpools for Greenway Plaza and Uptown/Galleria from 2004-2007 and received approximately $70,000 from H-GAC
- Inaugurated new marketing campaign for TREK services

is our emergency ride home program for TREK Partner company employees and TREKEXPRESS passengers. services are obtained by filling out the Application. Then, if you need to leave work due to an emergency or if you have an unscheduled overtime we guarantee you a ride home.
You must live less than 75 miles from work.
